We haven't mentioned the Roundhouse lately and didn't expect to for the Christmas season, but we're pleasantly surprised to announce a new show in the completely circular space in Camden that opens tonight and runs for the festive period. LOFT is a comedy, circus, dance, music, video and live DJ mash-up by The 7 Fingers who were all formerly members of Cirque du Soleil.

It's a story of 7 flatmates breaking up the monotony of housework by turning everyday, commonplace objects into inventive items of amusement - a cute little video clip on the site shows some very ingenious use of a very, very long tablecloth, an unhealthy obsession with a set of stairs, what looks like communal bathing and people wandering around in their underpants the way people do when they have lived together for a long time. (Or is that just the Londonist flatshare...?)

Considering the amount of aerial acrobatics, the DJ present throughout the performance, the contemporary circus elements and beautifully choreographed, sharp, edgy modern dance moments we've glimpsed, it's very definitely not a stage version of Friends or Christmas pantomime.

LOFT at the Roundhouse, from tonight until 30 December. For more information, watch a trailer and to book, go here.
