Tube Trains Mapped In Real Time

tuberealtime.JPG

This nifty little visualisation from Matthew Somerville shows every Tube train moving along in (something very close to) real time. (Note, image above is static - click through for the real thing.) Yellow pins show stations and red pins are trains. Matthew cobbled the map together in just a few hours using TfL's Tube API, which releases data about train movements. The visualisation was created at last weekend's Science Hack Day, held at Kings Place. Very slick. Occasionally, you'll descry a rogue train moving off across suburbia, away from any obvious tracks. Whether these are depots or data bads, we're not sure.
