London Stand Up And Sketch Comedy: 15-21 May

Our choice of where to find funny this week.

Sunday: Don your flat caps for an afternoon of northern-flavoured Working Men's Club comedy at Leicester Square Theatre (3pm, £6 / £5). Earl Okin, Scott Capurro, Meryl O’Rourke, Tim Shishodia, Lindsay Sharman and Tom Webb do t'accents.

Monday: Topical songsmith Mitch Benn (you'll have heard him on The Now Show) headlines Kilburn's Good Ship tonight from 8.30pm (£5 / £4 - might be an idea to email in advance). No mean support comes from Carly Smallman, Daniel Smith and Tom Webb.

Richard Herring is back saying stuff As It Occurs To [Him] at Leicester Square Theatre - every Monday until 20th June, or download the podcast (8pm, £14 / £12.50).

Tuesday: We're not sure whether Marek Larwood, of We Are Klang and Sorry I've Got No Head, is serious when he talks of comedy retirement, but maybe catch him at Fat Tuesday just in case (8pm, £8 / £6). And you also get to see Lloyd Langford, Joe Wilkinson and Colin Owens. Tiernan Douieb hosts.

Wednesday: Nina Conti is friends with one of the most filthy-minded monkeys we've seen. Ventriloquism has come a long way since Orville... head to the Royal Albert Hall's Elgar Room for 9pm (£15).

Thursday: Rich Hall, Robin Ince, Sean Hughes, Will Andrews, Tom Price, Tim Fitzhigham and Nick Revell are all on stage at the Bloomsbury to raise funds for peacebuilding organisation International Alert (7.30pm, £17 / £15).

Friday: We're aware of a school of thought that considers Snog, Marry, Avoid a work of genius, and we're willing to concede the point. The brain behind the show, Doug Faulkner, is at the Hen and Chickens tonight and tomorrow (7.30pm, £9).

Saturday: The late-night line-up at Leicester Square Theatre is pretty amazing - Frisky and Mannish and Rayguns Look Real Enough plus Londonist favourites Simon Munnery and Colin Hoult (pictured). Don't get too drunk beforehand, you'll want to remember these gags (10pm, £15 / £10 / £5).

Book ahead: Very little makes us happier than catching repeats of Black Books on More4. Dylan Moran's doing his elegant stream-of-consciousness / edge-of-drunkeness at the Hammersmith Apollo on July 14th and 15th (£20-£25).
