July in West London looks set fair for a month of al fresco fun across the borough of Ealing. And even if it rains, a large part of this is cheap as chips or free. Diaries at the ready:
Carnivals: Greenford Carnival kicks things off with family and community fun on Saturday 2 July in Ravenor Park, midday to 7pm, £2 entry for adults.
Acton Carnival follows on Saturday 9 July with a noon procession from Woodlands Park to Acton Park and an afternoon of arts, crafts, live music and a fun fair. £2 entry for adults.
Comedy: There's top stand up talent in a tent in Walpole Park between 15-16 and 20-22 July. Bumper line ups include Omid Djalili, Andrew Lawrence, Sean Lock, Terry Alderton, Milton Jones, Stephen K Amos, Jo Caulfield. Tickets £17.50.
Opera: Opera a la Carte present Verdi's Rigoletto on Sunday 17 July at 6.30pm in Walpole Park. Tickets £10-25.
Blues: Blues is big in Ealing. Even if you don't know anything about it you can take in an afternoon of top notch blues talent over 2 stages and 1 tent in Walpole Park on Saturday 23 July between 1-10pm for just £4 entry.
Global: World music moves into Walpole Park on Sunday 24 July with sounds from the Congo, Cuba, Hungary, South Africa and the Balkans, headlined by the Wurzels. Again, this takes place between 1-10pm and is just £4 entry. Plus DJ Binglybongly plays between acts.
Jazz: Five days of jazz wrap things up with Ealing Jazz Festival bringing jazz, funk, soul and big band to Walpole Park. The evening sessions on Wednesday and Thursday cost just £3 for adults, Friday night is £4 and Saturday and Sunday afternoons' big mixed bills are just £4 too, under 12s free.
