Things To Do In London At The Weekend: 15-17 July

The Weekend post is brought to you in partnership with MyDestination.com

All weekend

Don't forget to check out our specialist listings posts for other ideas - links at the foot of this post.

  • Lovebox dominates music this weekend with its three day bender in Victoria Park. Get the lowdown and info on all the after-parties over at Spoonfed.
  • Pray for fine weather to shine on Lambeth Country Show, Brockwell Park.
  • Shoreditch Festival gets free and fun down by Regent's Canal on Saturday and Sunday.
  • The very least you can do at Knit Nation is learn to knit. There'll be all sorts of classes (including Sock Survival), a marketplace, talks and crafty activities plus a tea salon and a charity bingo party. Register online and get your needles to Imperial College London’s South Kensington Campus.
  • The first Bloomsbury Art Fair is in Mecklenburgh Square all weekend. Day view tickets £5, late view tickets £10.
  • Last chance to experience the Punchdrunk Arcola collaboration The Uncommercial Traveller at 13 Pearson St, E2 8JD between 1-7.30pm, Saturday and Sunday. Tickets £6.
  • North Islington unlocks its arty venues for Islington Exhibits. There's a whole day of stuff going on at the Old Fire Station, Holloway on Saturday but exhibitions, installations, walks, talks and workshops happen all weekend.

Friday:

  • There are a few ground tickets left for London Cup International Hockey Tournament tonight in Chiswick. Tickets are £10. See Belgium play Korea at 17.45 and England v New Zealand at 8pm.
  • Are you going to the Fall of Rome Imperial Ball III?

Saturday:

  • The Big Day Out at Pleasance Theatre, Islington N7 has loads of free events, shows, music and workshops - including John Hegley, school rock bands, gardening and instrument making - as well as a market and the Big Day Out barbeque. From midday.
  • Join the Saturday Social at the Royal Academy of Arts, Burlington Gardens and get extra value out of your admission fee: see the Summer Exhibition, have lunch, enjoy klezmer music, workshops, talks, screenings and a late opening till 10pm.
  • The London Surf Festival takes place at Westminster Boating Base, Grosvenor Road SW1V 3JY. It's a celebration of beach culture, an excuse to shift some merchandise but there will be brave souls paddling out onto the Thames - good luck with that.
  • There's a Vintage Kilo Sale at the Rag Factory E1 from 11am. Entry is a quid, then it's £15 a kilo of stuff.
  • If you can't get into Lovebox, play Croquet on Vicky Park and keep your ears pinned back.
  • There's free entertainment outside the National Theatre as Watch This Space continues its al fresco programme with acrobatics, street performers and more.
  • There's a day of contemporary Arab culture at Rich Mix as part of the Mayor's Shubbak festival. The 12 hour event is called Land in Focus and presents a whole lot of film screenings plus music and more. From midday, free before 7pm, £5 after.
