London Stand Up And Sketch Comedy: 23-29 October

Our pick of where to find funny next week

Sunday:  The fabulous Joanna Neary relives her teenage years for her Edinburgh show, more conveniently located at the Leicester Square Theatre (7pm, £8).

Monday: We're offering you a choice of Camden venues here: political comedy night Lolitics has Mark Thomas, Kate Smurthwaite and Terry Saunders at the Black Heart (8.30pm, £3), or Jerry Sadowitz at the Etcetera Theatre (9.15pm, £10).

Tuesday: Canary Wharf might not be your first thought when you think comedy, but readjust your mental processes for tonight. Lucy Porter, magician/comic Pete Firman, Prince Abdi, Will Smith and Mike Wilmot make up a damn fine bill (7.15pm, £12).

Wednesday: Go to Knock2Bag and be left breathless by the sheer energy (and insanity) of this year's Edinburgh winner, Adam Riches. Joe Wilkinson (beardy bloke from Him and Her), Sheeps, podcasters Ray Peacock and Ed Gamble, Alistair Green and Adam Belbin are also on the bill (7.30pm, £8).

Thursday: Charity comedy gigs are a bit like cheating. It's, like, giving, but for what you'd pay for a comedy gig anyway. Celebrate the win-win at the Bloomsbury Theatre with Richard Herring, ventriloquist Nina Conti (much filthier than she was allowed to be on QI the other week), Shazia Mirza and Scott Capurro, and raise funds for cancer care charity Yes to Life (7.30pm, £16.50).

Friday: From TV panel show warm-up guy, Jarred Christmas has started to move in front of the cameras. We can never quite decide whether his persona is more cuddly or shouty. Decide for yourself at Leicester Square Theatre (9.30pm, £10).

Saturday: The Hampstead Comedy Club has Andy Zaltzman on tonight, whose Bugle podcast with John Oliver we've only just got around to properly listening to. We're idiots. Do better than us and catch him with Jimmy McGhie, Scott Capurro and host Ivor Dembina (8.30pm, £10 / £8/50).
