- Jewish Book Week is at Kings Place from Saturday, entry to the book fair is free, events are ticketed. Check out our preview.
- Deep Desires and Broken Dreams is a season of gay film at Riverside Studios until 22 February. Check out the free photo exhibition while you're there.
- Dennis the Menace is at the Southbank Centre for the Imagine Children's Festival.
- It's Carnival Weekend at Guanabara in Covent Garden and there's loads of music, dancing, sunshine and samba.
- The N20 Comedy Festival brings funnies to Battersea Arts Centre — see James Acaster, Alyssa Kyria and Jo Selby and Chris Martin and Joel Dommett.
- Young film-heads (15-25) need to be at BFI Southbank for Future Film on Saturday and Sunday (£5/10).
- Wander round the 20|12 International Art Fair at the Royal College of Art (£8) or the Parallax Art Fair (ends Saturday) in Chelsea Old Town Hall (free entry).
- The Vault Festival rolls our more fringe theatre experimentation in the Old Vic Tunnels.
- Take some time to find out about contemporary classical composers (or contest its top 10).
- And London Fashion Week is in full strut. Watch out for those fashionistas around Somerset House.
Friday:
- The brilliant Big Green Bookshop in Wood Green put on their Working Title Comedy Night from 8pm - BYO refreshments (£3 tickets).
- The Big Chill Bar at the Old Truman Brewery hosts a party for Sounds of the Universe record shop from 8pm (free entry).
Saturday:
- New market, Hackney Homemade Food starts at St John's Church, Hackney Central from 11am-4pm.
- Haringey Local History Fair is at Bruce Castle Museum, with talks focusing on 1912, from 11am-5pm (free).
- Take children along to the Chelsea Theatre Family Fun day for film, cookery, yoga, floristry and a tea dance from 10.30am (free).
- A Glamorous Affair - craft and vintage market is at The Library, Upper Street, Islington from 12-5pm (free entry) and there's more vintage at the Vintage Fair in Shoreditch Town Hall from noon till 5pm.
- The Good Fashion Show has exhibitions and a market all day (£5 entry) and an eco and ethical catwalk show in the evening (£30) at London House, Mecklenburgh Square.
- Take a culinary tour of St James with Westminster Walking at 2pm (£8).
- London Rockin' Rollers battle Leicester's Dolly Rockit Rollers at Newham Leisure Centre, followed by a rockin' roller disco from 4pm till late (£10 adults, £5 kids).
- Watch a rare pre-war horror film from Japan: The Ghost Cat and the Mysterious Shamisen at the Cinema Museum, Kennington at 7pm (£8.50 adv).
- Plus Rooftop Film Club opens at The Yard, Hackney Downs with Reservoir Dogs at 7.30pm (£9).
Sunday:
- Drop by the Royal Academy with your kids for fun activities around the artist's sketchbook from 11am-1pm (free). Grown ups might want to catch the free Hawksmoor exhibition at the RA too.
- Clerkenwell Vintage Fashion Fair takes over Urdang on Rosebery Avenue from 11am-4.30pm (£4 entry) and another Vintage Fashion Fair fills Cecil Sharp House, Primrose Hill from 11am-5pm (£3 in) plus the Bethnal Green Vintage Social has its first outing at York Hall, offering shopping plus the papers, board games, music, live acts from 1-7pm (free entry).
- RichMix pays tribute to Valentine's Day in the east end with part 8 of its ace Snapshots Festival from midday (free).
- Swap seeds in Broomfield Park conservatory, Palmers Green between 2-4pm.
- Reclaim Love with Occupy at the Eros statute at 2pm
- The New Empress Quiz Night is all about Andrew McCarthy at Shortwave Cinema, Bermondsey at 7.30pm (£3 entry).
