Where to find funny this week
Sunday 14 April: Sunday Special in Greenwich has a mystery big name warming up before heading off on tour. But the other two acts, James Acaster and Ed Gamble, are also well worth popping down for (7.30pm, £6 / £4).
Monday 15 April: Josh Widdicombe, Seann Walsh, Suzi Ruffell, Rachel Parris, Ivo Graham and Adam Greene are on stage at the Courtyard Theatre in Hoxton to raise money for the Family Holiday Association (6.30pm, £25).
Tuesday 16 April: See two improvised shows with Hoopla Improv at The Miller in London Bridge. First up, there's 1920s style period costume drama Upstairs Downton, then a comedy musical from Music Box (8pm. £5 / £2.50).
Wednesday 17 April: This is the second of Festival of the Spoken Nerd's three nights at Bloomsbury Theatre (if you have hearing difficulties, Thursday's show is captioned with Stagetext). Helen Arney, Matt Parker and Steve Mould's computer says yes – and we've seen a demo of the promised computer-made-from-dominos, it's as brilliant and silly as FOTSN always is (7.30pm, £14 / £12).
Thursday 18 April: Cariad Lloyd (pictured) hosts a night of character and sketch comedy at Kings Place. Joining her are Claudia O'Doherty (who we loved last week), Jessie Cave, Oyster Eyes and Fraser Millward (8pm, £9.50 / £12.50).
Friday 19 April: The host of very popular new material night, Old Rope, Tiffany Stevenson brings her own show Uncomfortably Numb to the Soho Theatre (9.15pm, £12.50 / £10).
Saturday 20 April: Book Slam diversifies into comedy and food with Book Slam (F)East at the Round Chapel in Clapton. Tickets are £45 but include a three course meal and apéritif as well as comedians Adam Riches, Andrew Maxwell, Piff the Magic Dragon and author Will Self (6.30pm).
Book ahead: Advance notice for this one, but we're rather excited: Adam Buxton presents a BUG-sounding new show, Kernel Panic, at the Union Chapel 14 and 15 September (£20 / £18).
