Cheer On The International Horseball Competition

Picture a team of four excellent riders on horseback, galloping at speed, passing a ball between them and trying to shoot hoops. Now picture another team trying to stop them, intercepting passes on the gallop and riding their steeds into their opponents to stop them scoring. That's horseball.

Created in France in the 1970s and drawing on elements of polo, rugby and basketball, horseball is an all-action team game and this weekend you can watch riders from France and Britain compete in the International Horseball Competition at Lee Valley Riding Centre.

It's free to watch and if horseball seems like the sport for you (and you can ride comfortably at a canter), have a look round the stables, talk to representatives of Lee Valley Horseball Club and find out how to get started.

The International Horseball Competition takes place Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 July at Lee Valley Riding Centre. Free, just turn up, 10am-5pm
