Our pick of London's comedy gigs this week and in the near future.
Janeane Garofalo
We previewed this show at the Soho Theatre earlier in the week: read up with that article beforehand and maybe avoid the problem a commenter had, who found Garofalo's Edinburgh gig "too narcissistic, too preachy, too feminist". We can't help feeling that expecting Janeane Garofalo to not be feminist is like expecting Tim Vine to tell long, intricate stories; forewarned is forearmed. 25-27 August, 8pm, £20, with support from Dave Hill.
Matt Okine
At the time of writing, Matt Okine is nominated for the Best Newcomer Award in Edinburgh; he's already won two awards in Australia so don't bet against him. Catch this show at the Soho Theatre from 28 August until 7 September, 9.15pm, £10-£15.
Piccadilly Comedy Club
The fantastic Paul Sinha headlines (see the video below) on 30 and 31 August, with support from Mike Belgrave and Mike Manera at this club at the aptly named Comedy pub. 8pm, £10 / £12.50.
Live at the Chapel
Invisible Dot has put together a post-Edinburgh bash at the Union Chapel, hosted by Alex Horne and featuring Newcomer-nominated Liam Williams, Claudia O'Doherty (who seems to have really got everyone behind her this summer), Jamie Demetriou and others. 7 September, 7.45pm, £18 / £16.
Adam Buxton
Book now to see Dr Buckles's new show Kernel Panic, branching out a bit from the YouTube focus of Bug and looking at how we present ourselves across the whole internet. It's at the Union Chapel 13-16 September but Saturday is already sold out. 7.45pm, £20 / £18.
