School Dinners...With Cocktails

Ever fancied going back to school*? You can re-live your formative years with a fine gastronomic twist at School Dinners, in the Victorian backdrop of the Central Foundation Boys’ School.

The one-off event on 26 October 2013 is set to be an intriguing mix of immersive ‘old school’ experience and upgraded retro nosh, with an appropriately educational slant. Expect registration (and cocktails), assemblies, choirs, and Gingham-clad dinner ladies, who’ll hopefully probably not let you leave until you've drunk your glass. Oh and bike sheds. Which were clearly only ever used for bikes.

The dining hall will host a four-course banquet — all we know at this stage is that it might very well be a playful homage to the food you loved and/or loathed as a child.

To round the evening off, a series of informative lectures will be given by speakers: teacher-turned-performance-poet Mark Grist; DJ, teacher, wordsmith and leader of London’s Run Dem Crew, Charlie Dark; and vocalist ESKA. More guests to be announced, keep a beady eye on the site for details.

*Unless you’re still at school. In which case, why aren’t you studying?

School Dinners takes place Saturday 28 September 2013, Saturday 26 October at Central Foundation Boys’ School, Cowper Street EC2A 4SH. 6.3010.30pm. Tickets are £60 + booking fee, and include a four-course meal and canapés.

UPDATE: DATE HAS BEEN CHANGED TO SATURDAY 26 OCTOBER
