As the year draws towards its close, our new found love of all things Gatsby and flirtations with the jazz age, which flourished around spring, show no sign of desisting. The Last Word is a series of events that combine London’s three greatest pastimes: eating, drinking, and dancing in a retro style.
The Food: Established purveyors of the pop-up The Disappearing Dining Club, who’ve been throwing Brick Lane bashes since 2010, will host a banquet, featuring ten warming British sharing plates — salt beef, smoked salmon, slow roast pork shoulder and, naturally, some cheese, grape and biscuit platters.
The Music: You know that whole ‘Jazz Age’ thing we mentioned in the intro? The venue takes a huge helping of inspiration from the era, splashed over three – three – stages. Acts include The Top Shelf Band — circus musicians who accompany their craft with magic and comedy; Benoit Viellefon & His Orchestra; Dalston Gypsy Jazz Trio; and The Red Roosters, touted as one of London’s leading swing bands. In-house DJ Strawberry Blond joins them.
And the Mixology: Taste consultant and mixologist Deano Moncrieffe, brings his extensive passion, Parisian training and expertise to the party with a menu curated especially for the event. As for The Last Word cocktail – it’s packed with gin, fresh lime, green chartreuse and maraschino liqueur.
And yes, it is all in east London.

Entry is free for Trinity members before 9.30pm, sign up to the website for membership. A private cocktail table can be reserved for a bargain £6 per head, and dinner reservations for up to six people are £54 per person. Groups of 12 or more will have their own dedicated tables.
