CHRISTMAS MARKETS: Find a festive market near you and pick up some presents while scoffing a mince pie.

ENCHANTED WOODLAND: Syon Park lights up a trail through its beautiful gardens and aboretum for evening visits to the park in the dark - the Enchanted Woodland is open on Friday, Saturdays and Sundays only until 8 December. Tickets £7 adults, kids £3, just turn up, 5-9pm

CHRISTMAS FOOD: The Taste of Christmas show is at Tobacco Dock from Thursday to Sunday, with the chance to taste seasonal food from top London restaurants and chefs and shop at the Christmas Food and Drink Market. Tickets from £23.65 for adults in advance, £26 on the door, then buy £1 crowns as tasting vouchers. From 11am

SOUTH KEN KIDS: Get your children to the Institut Francais for some cross-channel artistry and fun activities with South Ken Kids' Festival. Meet authors, make things, watch films, hear stories, draw, write and improvise. Events ticketed individually, check website for details.

IRISH FILM: The Irish Film Festival presents shorts, features, Irish language film, a documentary about the London Irish Women's Centre, a family animation workshop and a UK premiere at Riverside Studios and the ICA. Check the website for full listings and booking.

LATIN AMERICAN FILM: Bolivar Hall hosts the final weekend of the London Latin American Film Festival.

YOUNG FILM: Framed Film Festival at Barbican is an annual showcase of the best of international films, events and creative learning opportunities, aimed at children under 12 and teenagers. Many of the film screenings are £5/£3. See website for full details.

FILM IN HARINGEY: The inaugural borough-wide Haringey Film Group Festival is called Visions of Home and unites all sorts of film and arts clubs. This weekend watch Indian satire Peepli Live at Wood Green Asian Centre and Hungarian film, Diary for my Children at Heartlands High School and

IGGY POP: Iggyfest runs at the ICA on Friday and Saturday with live music performances, film screenings, talks, DJ sets and an Iggy karaoke party. Iggyfest multi-buy ticket £50/£45 or buy tickets to individual events. Check website for full listings and booking.

SINGING: Join the National Portrait Choir at the National Portrait Gallery for a day exploring and singing Elizabethan choral music on Saturday or Sunday. Tickets £22, book and state whether you're soprano, alto, tenor or bass, 10am-3.45pm

WIMBLEDON: It's showtime for the artists at Wimbledon Art Studios as they open their doors for a long weekend of art browsing, buying, talking and doing in SW17. Free entry, just turn up, 11am-6pm

RUSHGROVE HOUSE: The listed Georgian mansion in Woolwich becomes home to works by students from the RCA, plus performances, workshops, film screenings and debates. Free, Sat 2-9pm Sun 12-9pm

INTERROBANG: Annexe Magazine's Book Fair and festival, Interrobang, takes place in two venues, the books are in the Free Word Centre (free entry) and all three floors of the nearby Betsey Trotwood pub will be filled with music, stories, comedy and spoken word. All welcome, £7 for the entertainment, from 11.30am

UNDERWIRE: On the last day of the Underwire Film Festival, there are lots of events going on looking at the representation of women on film and in film plus screenings of shorts, masterclasses, networking and a closing party. Check website for full details, from 12pm

GEORGIAN CHRISTMAS: Sutton House in Hackney has a Georgian Inspired Christmas Family Day. Normal admission, just turn up, 12-4pm

KIDS' ART: Drop in and draw at a free workshop inspired by The London Group +100 exhibition. It's taking place at the Cello Factory, Waterloo. Free, book, 1-4pm

MUSIC:  November Spawned A Monster, so says The Windmill in Brixton which is hosting a music all-dayer with live bands galore. Tickets £7 advance, £9 on the door, starts 2pm

ANIMATED DRAWING: Juneau Projects presents a family-friendly animated drawing workshop at King’s College London, where you can learn how to bring drawing to life using highlighter pens and coloured lights. Free, just turn up, 2pm

CHRISTMAS FLOWERS: Learn how to make a beautiful seasonal table decorations and Christmas flower arrangements at a workshop in Willesden at the Urban W00t shop. Tickets £30, two for £50, 2.30-5pm

HOUSE WARMING: Help welcome Tate Britain back into full service with their special House Warming Party. Check out the re-hang, enjoy live music, films, tours and talks free, from 3-10pm

ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS: There is still time to register for the UK Rock Paper Scissors Championship. The Qualifying Tournament starts at 4.45pm, with the big Champs Final at 7pm. It takes place at The Green Man Pub (downstairs bar), No. 1 Poultry, EC2R 8EJ.

ROCK CHOIR: Join the JusB Rock Choir at Bromley Baptist Church for an evening of your favourite motown, pop and gospel songs. £10/£7, prebook for cheaper tickets, 7pm

REMIXED: London Remixed Festival is a one ticket, seven Shoreditch venue party of remixed music - ghetto funk, drum and bass, reggae, anarchic hoedown, Latin breaks, brass band hip hop, electro-Afro music, Balkan beats, blues remix, electro swing, tropical bass, Ethiopian dub, DMC scratch masters and more. Tickets £15+bkg, 7pm-4am

FOLK: A concert in celebration of songwriter, Graeme Miles, features the first appearance at Cecil Sharp House of The Unthanks along with six other folk artists. Tickets £18+bkg, book, 7.30pm

CLASSICAL: Camden Symphony Orchestra play Verdi, Brahms & Dvorak at St Cyprian's Church near Baker Street. Tickets £10/£8, available on the door, 7.30pm

POSTCARDS: It is the last time the Bloomsbury Postcard and Collectors Fair will set up at the Royal National Hotel - it's moving to Clerkenwell. Read this blogpost about the postcard market then go and explore hundreds of thousands of postcards in one room. Admission £1.50 (including a free postcard), open 10am-4.30pm

STIR-UP SUNDAY: The last Sunday before advent is Stir-up Sunday and families can pop into the Victorian Kitchen at Gunnersbury Park Museum to learn about preparing for Christmas the traditional way. Free, just turn up, 11.30am-3.30pm

SUNDAY PAPERS: Don't just read them, experience them live with Secret Forum's Sunday Papers Live, feat. speakers Jon Snow, Andrew Maxwell, Richard Reynolds and many more, plus fun and games on the side with a quiz, sudoko, cartoons and performances at Cecil Sharp House. Tickets £30, book, 11am-11pm

ST KATHARINE: A special service in the Chapel Royal at the Tower of London commemorates St Katharine's Day and the Royal Hospital of St Katharine's by the Tower. Free, just turn up, 10.30am

CHANUKAH: Families head to Ivy House in Golders Green for the Chanukah Gift Fair and Fun afternoon for kids - book magic and drawing lessons in advance, pay 50p on the day. Entry adults £2, kids free entry, 1.30pm-5pm

SWISH: Learn more about textile reuse at a Super Swishing event at Islington Assembly Hall. Exchange your second-hand clothes for those of others, then join an upcycling workshop so you can hold onto your new wares for longer. Free, just turn up, from 2pm

FEMINIST FILM: The second London Feminist Film Festival starts today at Hackney Picturehouse, celebrating feminist films and women creatives past and present. It begins with a session on Body Politics which includes the European Premiere of The Cut, an insightful documentary on Female Genital Mutilation filmed by Beryl Magoko in her home district in Kenya. SONGS: Dispel the darkness with Songs on a Sunday in Spitalfields - the English Restaurant hosts a Winter Warmer gig of folk, blues, music hall and singalong. £5 entry, come early to get a table, 7pm

PEN & PAPER: Enjoy an evening of African storytelling and live music in aid of the Pen and Paper campaign, which supports the development of education systems in Gambia. Tickets £10/£7 advance, book, 8pm
