London Comedy: New Year's Eve, Luisa Omielan, Comedy Store Players

See Luisa Omielan at the Soho Theatre

Our selection of London’s alternative, clever and offbeat comedy gigs for New Year and the rest of this week.

New Year's Eve

We doubt the comedy at these club nights will be subtle but if you fancy welcoming in 2014 with laughter, try The Comedy Store in Piccadilly (£59 / £49 early bird until Sunday, 8pm) with Tom Wrigglesworth, Phil Nichol, Ian Stone, Jeff Innocent and Nathan Caton. You can also see Nathan Caton at the 99 Club in Covent Garden (£35, 8.30pm) alongside Nick Revell and Matt Green. Banana Cabaret in Balham presents John Moloney, Paul Tonkinson, John Fothergill and Paul Thorne (standing only £25.30, 9pm).

Slightly less raucous fun may be found on these nights...

Good Ship

There's a pre-NYE party on 30 December at the Good Ship in Kilburn, hosted by the pee-emittingly funny Jonny and the Baptists, plus Rayguns Look Real Enough, Ben Van der Velde, That Pair and Steve Sellers (£5 / £4 adv, 8pm).

Luisa Omielan

Luisa Omielan’s show What Would Beyoncé Do?! has been gathering word of mouth and critical approval for a while now, and keeps selling out. Catch another run at the Soho Theatre until 11 January for a feel good way into the New Year (£12.50-£20, 9.30pm).

Comedy Store Players

A stalwart of London's comedy scene, the improv of Josie Lawrence, Neil Mullarkey, Andy Smart, Lee Simpson, Steve Edis and Niall Ashdown at the Comedy Store will be a great way to nurse your head on 1 January (£17 / £12, 8pm).

The 99 Club

Holly Walsh, Andrew Lawrence and Spencer Brown make up a fun, clever triple line-up at The 99 Club's Leicester Square venue on 3 January (£20 adv, 8.30pm).
