London Comedy: Robin Ince, Sheeps, Isy Suttie

Isy Suttie, in Crouch End on 10 December

Our selection of London’s alternative, clever and offbeat comedy gigs this week.

Alternative Comedy Memorial Society

The final ACMS of the year has, as a very special retro treat, Simon Munnery in his The League Against Tedium guise – plus Kevin Eldon, Jessica Fostekew, Liam Williams, Josie Long, John-Luke Roberts, Thom Tuck, Alexis Dubus, Ben Target, Tom Bell, William Andrews and Sara Pascoe. 9 December will be a long night at the Soho Theatre. £12.50, 8pm

Late Night Gimp Fight

Alternatively at the Soho Theatre, why not enjoy five men in gimp masks making knob gags. Late Night Gimp Fight are back for an extended run until 21 December. Sit back, relax and think of sketch, camp and songs. £10-£20, 9.30pm

David Morgan

Your third option for 9 December (this is a stupidly busy week packed with great shows) is David Morgan at the Pleasance. It's been a while since we last saw him, but we do remember creasing up at his self-deprecating, biting comedy. 7.30pm, £7.50

What Happened Here

Phill Jupitus, Isy Suttie, Sara Barron and more tell stories at the King's Head in Crouch End on 10 December, hosted by Chris Neill. 8pm, £8 / £6

Nine Lessons and Carols / Christmas Compendium of Reason

It's the last year that Robin Ince is doing these Christmas / sciencey shows that feature a terrifying number of guests, so get tickets now for dates at Bloomsbury Theatre (10, 11, 16-21 December, £25 / £15 + bf, 7.30pm) or with Brian Cox at Hammersmith Apollo (12/14 December, from £28.25, 7pm)

Stand Up Tragedy

We all know that comedy is just tragedy plus time, so this podcast/live show combining stand up, spoken word, music and true stories just puts it on stage a little sooner. The show on 12 December in Brixton is a fundraiser for Arts Emergency, featuring Felicity Ward, Bec Hill, Steve Cross, Lucy Aryton, Richard Tyrone-Jones, Superbard, Radcliffe Royds, The Sound of the Ladies, James McKay and Kit Lovelace. £5-£9, 7.30pm

Ed Byrne

Ed Byrne brings his impish grin and flowing locks to Hammersmith Apollo on 13 December, to tell us all why middle age is great. £25.75, 7pm

Sheeps Festive Bash

We've got a soft spot for sketch trio Sheeps, with their silly and sharp skits. Join them for a Christmas show at the Tabernacle in Notting Hill on 13 December, with Tim Key, The Pin, Kieran Hodgson and more. £20, 7.30pm
