Our selection of London’s alternative, clever and offbeat comedy gigs this week.

The Boy With Tape On His Face

Get some mute props comedy at the Palace Theatre with Sam Wills, aka The Boy With Tape On His Face. This guy wins awards and sells out venues by the shedload, a perfect Christmas treat. 16 December, £15-£37, 7.30pm

Alex Horne

Alex Horne is joined by Miles Jupp and Angelos Epithemiou at the Soho Theatre to record the Alex Horne Breaks the News podcast. Expect semi-topical debate and quick gags. 16 December, £8 / £5, 7pm

Late Night Gimp Fight

Got a small baby? Fed up with not being exactly welcome at comedy clubs with a nappy bag? Go to the Soho Theatre on 17 December at 11am for their new Soho Screamers idea, £12.50. The Gimps are also on in the evenings until 21 December, £12.50-£20, 9.30pm

Jerry Sadowitz

Not for the faint hearted or easily offended, see Jerry Sadowitz do some card magic at Leicester Square Theatre 18-23, 27-30 December and dates in January, plus the usual savage comedy. £22.50, 7pm

Natural Born Storytellers

Comedy and spoken word combine at the Camden Head with Natural Born Storytellers. Describing the greatest gift they've ever received are Matt Price, Jools Constant, Sameena Zehra, Hannah Deasy and more. 18 December, free, 8.15pm

Popcorn Comedy

James Acaster, Liam Williams, Mae Martin and others celebrate the best of Popcorn Comedy from 2013 (warning, this website has a soundtrack we've yet to find out how to turn off, also some dodgy twerking. Basically, do not click at work...) at Hackney Picturehouse. 20 December, £10, 7pm
