'The Annie', a well-loved local London pub is facing closure unless enough people pledge support and enable a community buy-out.

There's been a pub on the site of The Antwerp Arms (@AntwerpArmsAssoc) in Tottenham since 1830 but its future became uncertain when it was sold to a developer. Locals reacted by forming the Antwerp Arms Association and moved to have the pub listed as an Asset of Community Value under the Localism Act.

Now they have a chance to buy the pub for the benefit of the community, if they can raise enough money. With eight days left, there's a way to go, but with one share costing just £50, plenty of pub lovers, Haringey locals, Spurs fans and anyone who vaguely fancies themselves a landlord can afford to get involved.

Need some encouragement? Pay the pub a visit this Sunday and join in the Pledge Party at The Antwerp Arms (12-3pm) with the promise of free beer and Ploughman’s Lunch for all pledgers! One share is £50, maximum investment £20,000. Visit Microgenius to pledge now. The Share Offer closes on 22 May, read the Community Share Offer document here.

Last week CAMRA submitted a report to the Mayor on the 'shocking' rate of pub closures in London. Don't let the Annie become another sad statistic.

Dubious? It worked for the Ivy House in Nunhead, now London's first co-operatively owned pub.

P.S. The Chesham in Hackney also needs your support: sign the petition to help prevent it being converted into flats.
