Our selection of London’s alternative, clever and offbeat comedy gigs this week.
Trevor Noah
South Africa's Trevor Noah is back in town trying out new material at the Soho Theatre 19-23 July. Most comics would hone in the back room of a pub; not this guy. £15, 7.30pm (Sunday 9pm)
Battersea Arts Centre Previews
There's over a week of Edinburgh previews at the BAC from 21 July, with shows from Simon Munnery, Toby, Andy Zaltzman, Sara Pascoe, Richard Herring, Mike Wozniak and more. Tickets £8-£12, various start times
Good Ship
There are two installments of comedy in Kilburn this week: the first is Pippa Evans's deranged character Loretta Maine, plus Stephen Carlin and Peter Brush, on 21 July, the second is Sara Pascoe taking on history with support from Danny Bhoy and Damian Kingsley on 24 July. £4 adv/£5, 8pm
Danish Face
We've had Stewart Lee as Bacon Face. Now here's Anna Andresen as Danish Face with a preview of her Edinburgh show, an hour of comic storytelling and troll hunting. At the Phoenix Artist Club on Charing Cross Road, 23, 24 (7pm) and 26 July (2pm and 5pm). £5.50
Four Screws Loose
Sketch-in-progress from this quartet at the Hen and Chickens in Islington as they perfect their fifth show together — directed by Matthew Floyd Jones of Frisky and Mannish fame. 23 and 25 July, £7.50, 7.30pm

Yet more previews (it's just that time of year) at the Tommyfield in Kennington, from Tony Law and Suzi Ruffell on 24 July. £7+bf, 7.40pm
