Love a bit of London trivia? Come and see Londonist Editor-at-Large Matt Brown and Westminster Guide Peter Berthoud offer up their favourite strange and fantastic tales of the Thames aboard HMS President this weekend.

In a game of 'oddity ping-pong', they'll take it in turns to present curious and little-known stories from the river's past that they hope you haven't heard before, alongside intriguing illustrations, ephemera, maps and books. Pete says, " We guarantee no tales of Bazalgette and the Great Stink, no Brunel related Thames Tunnel stories and nothing whatsoever about the building of Tower Bridge!"

Come along armed with your own Thames gems and plenty of questions for these incurable London obsessives. After the Q&A, join them up on deck for a drink and a chance to talk London geek.

This is just one of six fascinating Londonist river-themed events being presented aboard the 'Dazzle Ship' HMS President on 20-21 September during Totally Thames. Come for one session, or stay for the duration on a special day ticket. Plenty of Team Londonist will be aboard to chat too. Fingers crossed for fine weather as the upper deck is a great place to sip a beer in the sun.

Thames Oddities, 20 September 2014, 2.30 - 4pm as part of Londonist Afloat: Terrific Tales of the Thames. Tickets are £7.50 per session, or £15 for the day ticket, which includes entry to three talks.

Londonist is proud media partner to Totally Thames.
