Look Out For A Military Flypast Over London

A Royal Air Force C130J Hercules transport plane taxis after landing at Camp Bastion, Afghanistan.

The aircraft is based at Kandahar and is part of 904 Expeditionary Air Wing. Camp Bastion lies in Central Helmand Province, Afghanistan and is the UKs main operating base in Afghanistan growing in just 5 years to a size similar to Aldershot in the UK.

Keep your eyes on the sky this Friday 13 March — eight military aircraft will fly over London to mark six months since the closing of Camp Bastion in Afghanistan. Look up around 12.20pm to see "two Chinooks, two Apache helicopters, one Sea King MK4, one C-130-J Hercules and two GR4 Tornados".

The aerial spectacle will fly south to north, heading right over St Paul's Cathedral where the Queen and other senior royals will attend a commemoration service. A military parade will also make its way between the cathedral and Guildhall.
