We’ve had a cat café and a possibly unwise owl bar, now London is getting a Micro Pig Pop-Up. This porcine promotion is being held for five days in May at The Proud Archivist gallery between Shoreditch and Dalston. The event aims to educate the public about the size micro pigs can grow to in the hope that fewer pigs will end up being abandoned.

The London Pignic, as its being called, will feature a litter of new-born piglets to pet (they’re due in April) with the event itself described as “an evening experience including a curated picnic, a pig-themed cocktail masterclass, a salon of piggy ideas and a pig film.” The event is being run by Yelp with Petpiggies and will also raise money for an animal welfare charity (bringing home the bacon hopefully).

To get a ticket you’ll need to RSVP the organisers by clicking here – they will then choose who gets one of the limited spots on May 14, a week before the event itself (there will be a price to pay, though this is yet to be confirmed and promised to be “reasonable”). The five days will see four events held at the Proud Archivist on May 21 and 22, 6-10pm and also on May 23 and 25 (the Sunday and bank holiday Monday), 2-6pm
