Giant slides ... decisions, decisions

GIANT SLIDES:
Southbank Centre's Festival of Love has begun and this week Carsten Holler's Decisions exhibition opened, as did those giant slides on the side of the Hayward Gallery. We've had a look. Make up your own mind about it. Sunday is already sold out but move quick to get in on Saturday, tickets £13.50. There's much more to see around the Southbank Centre though so you could just go for a wander.

BRUNCH & BLOODY MARY:
Head to The Eastway for a Love it or Ate it Chicken brunch and a bloody Mary. Why 'love it or ate it'? Marmite lurks within. This brunch is a bargain at £12 per person so book yours now, available 11am-4pm

OPEN GARDEN SQUARES:
Enjoy rare al fresco experiences, including poetry recitals, tours of the garden inside Arsenal’s old stadium, a Japanese roof garden and a ‘bee barn’ as part of Open Garden Squares Weekend. £10-£12, prebook, 13-14 June

SCANDI WICK:
It's the first weekend of the Kopparberg Urban Forest at Hackney Wick. Planted out east for the summer it entwines Swedish and London culture through live music, DJs, street food and quite a bit of fruit cider. Soundcrash take over on Saturday and the Hackney Colliery Band plays on Sunday. Free entry (over 18s) 12-11pm

ZOMBIE GAME:
Get pulses racing with clue cracking, problem solving and the ever-present threat of zombification and have a go at being Trapped in a Room with a Zombie in Whitechapel. Prebook, tickets £28 pp.

SOHO FOOD FEAST:
Dozens of Soho restaurants will set up stall in St Ann's Churchyard Gardens for Soho Food Feast, in aid of Soho Parish School. As well as the chance to taste signature dishes there are demos, talks and kids activities, including face painting and foodie crafts like vegetable sculpture. Tickets are £15 per day or £25 for the weekend (+food tokens), under 16s go free. 13-14 June 12-6pm

REGENT STREET CINEMA:
Have you been to the newly reopened oldest cinema in Britain yet? Stop by for an afternoon double bill of Woody Allen's Annie Hall and 2013 film, Straight Up. Three showings this weekend, 13 & 14 June

NEW SHOES:
The V&A Museum's new exhibition, Shoes: Pleasure and Pain, opens today. More than 200 pairs of shoes from around the world will be displayed, with designers Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo and Prada all represented. Read our review. £12, prebook, until January 2016

CIRCUS GEEKS:
There's juggling, and then there's juggling. The guys behind Beta Testing at Udderbelly mix their juggling skills with theatre and comedy to give an insight into the life of a performer. £20-£23, 13 & 14 June

Enjoy a garden party at the Royal Academy

ROYAL ACADEMY:
The Other Garden Party at Royal Academy sees summertime take on an Alice in Wonderland twist. Activities include garden games, letterpress printing, life drawing and theatrical hat making. Tickets include entry to the Summer Exhibition and a free drink. Hats are encouraged, with prizes for the most outlandish. £30, 7pm-11pm

KNIT IN PUBLIC:
Go on, get your needles out and proud and get knitting on the tenth World Wide Knit in Public Day. We have found knit-ins happening in East Finchley, Clapton Square, Chingford and Soho but you can do it anywhere you like.

BIG NOISE FESTIVAL:
The Big Noise Festival has a great line-up of artists and DJs including Macka B & The Roots Ragga Band, Mr Switch and Slamboree. Takes place at The Coronet in Elephant & Castle, with funds raised going to The Big Issue Foundation. Age 18+. £18-£25, from 6pm

STRANGE CREATURES:
Grant Museum of Zoology holds a seminar day, based on the current Strange Creatures exhibition. Find out more about how art has been used to communicate unknown animals to the world and hear from some of the exhibition co-curators and guest speakers, £3, prebook, 10am-3.30pm

HANDEL WORKSHOP:
Sing Handel with Laurence Cummings. The Musical Director of the London Handel Festival will be leading an all-day Open Workshop on choruses from Handel's 'Israel in Egypt' at St. Andrew's Church, Surbiton. Lunch and refreshments included. £20, prebook, 10.30am -5pm

PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP:
Got a DSLR but not enough knowledge to make the most of it? Join freelance photographer and technical tutor Claudia in a workshop and walk along the South Bank and learn from the pro as you go. £50, starts 10.30am

GRANDFEST:
Taking place around Hoxton Square, GrandFest is a one-day festival featuring music, entertainment, food and free masterclasses — organised by the Royal Voluntary Service. BIG WILD RUMPUS:
The Big Wild Rumpus is a celebration of children's book Where the Wild Things Are. Events take place at several venues including the Unicorn Theatre, where there will be an interactive reading of the book, followed by craft activties. Dressing up is encouraged. Aimed at 3-7 year olds and their parents. Free, just turn up, 11am-1pm

NAKED PEOPLE:
It's World Naked Bike Ride Day. This is a global protest about car culture and oil dependency but it's also a day when people take photos of naked people cycling on London's streets. Check the Flickrpool on Sunday - you have been warned.

VEGAN FAYRE:
The Calthorpe Project on Gray's Inn Road holds its first vegan fayre featuring pizza, donuts, pastries, cakes, burritos, craft ale and beer and more. Free, just turn up, 12pm-5pm

CRAFT BEER BUS:
Hop on board the craft beer bus for a tour of London's best breweries. From pale ale to IPA you'll visit the likes of Crate Brewery, RedChurch, Beavertown and more. You'll sup on four free craft beers, take part in a micro-tour of a brewery and get tasting notes from each brew-pub, with expert guides on hand to give info on the beers and breweries. £22, 1pm

RATATOUILLE:
House of Vans in Waterloo brings its Disney Week to a close with a free screening of Ratatouille. Seats are limited to 100, so get there early to guarantee a spot. Entrance to the House is free - find the entrance round the side of Waterloo Station by Leake Street and while you're there, check out the free Disney exhibition, watch people skateboarding and enjoy the cafe. HAMMERSMITH COMEDY:

Tomorrow marks the 800th anniversary of the sealing of Magna Carta. To mark the event, today the whole nation is encouraged to take part in Liberteas, a series of events across the country where people can take tea together. Find your nearest event.

MAGNA CARTA FESTIVAL:
To mark that 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta, Royal Holloway holds a one day festival of arts and ideas for all the family. Get involved in hands-on activities and performances, sample food and drink, or try your hand in the crafts market. Free, just turn up, 10am-5pm

BABY DISCO:
Monski Mouse's Baby Disco Dance Hall on South Bank is for under fives and their families to hit the dancefloor and bust some moves. £11, 3pm

HACKNEY RECORD FAIR:
Hackney Record Fair at EPIC Dalston is a chance to discover independent music labels, new bands, the local DIY scene, get hold of some rare/obscure LPs, cassettes, music ephemera, and vintage hi-fi. Free, just turn up, 11am-6pm

CHARIOTS:
Rathayatra, the Hare Krishna Festival of Chariots makes its way up from Hyde Park to Trafalgar Square, followed by an afternoon of classical and modern Indian performances, music, workshops and free vegetarian food. Expect chanting. Parade starts 11.30am, activities in the Square from noon. Free, from 11.30am

WESTMINSTER TREASURE HUNT:
This cryptic scavenger quest will test your puzzle-solving skills and your political knowledge, as you explore the area of Westminster with drinks and games along the way. £15-£60, 12pm

ANIMAL HOME OPEN DAY:
The Mayhew Animal Home annual summer Open Day takes place in Kensal Green to raise funds for the homeless cats and dogs at the rescue and rehoming centre. There's a live steel band, vegetarian barbecue, bouncy castle and kids' activities, stalls and more. £3/£2, just turn up, 12pm-5pm

VESTRY HOUSE:
Join Forest Poets on a short, atmospheric tour through poetry of Vestry House Museum's many guises, from workhouse to police station to private home. Free, just turn up, 12.30pm

SHAKESPEARE GARDEN:
Actor Timothy West will open a new Shakespeare-themed garden in St. Leonard’s Church gardens, designed and planted by people in recovery from addictions. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be followed by an afternoon of summer garden party fun hosted by local homeless and addictions charity Spitalfields Crypt Trust. 2pm-5pm

MATILDA THE MUSICAL:
The Cambridge Theatre holds a relaxed performance of Matilda the Musical, aimed at people with autism and learning disabilities. Elements of the production are adapted to reduce anxiety or stress. Lighting and sound levels are adjusted to soften their impact. Designated ‘chill-out’ areas are provided outside the auditorium with soft seating and activities for people to use. £10/£25, prebook, 3pm

BOAT PARTY BARBECUE:
What better way to see in summer than on a boat with a drink in your hand and the barbecue fired up? Head to Temple for dancing, drinks and more afloat on the Thames. £10, 3pm
