Don't Miss The Canoe Slalom World Championships In London
300 top canoe slalom athletes are coming to London for the largest global canoeing event outside the Olympic Games

Elite athletes will battle it out at the Lee Valley White Water Centre later this month, in the Canoe Slalom World Championships.

There'll be competitors from 55 countries taking on the demanding Olympic course at Lee Valley, where Team GB had a double-medal triumph at the 2012 Games.

This time, World Champions will be crowned in five disciplines over the five-day tournament. And with qualification for the 2016 Rio Olympics also up for grabs, there should be some pretty fierce competition.

If you're inspired by the sporting action on show, you can even try some canoeing activities. Stay dry and test your paddling skills on land using a Kayak Ergo, and see how fast you can paddle 50 metres. Alternatively, head out onto the water with expert guides from Canoe England staff and volunteers. Try a short canoeing taster session on the flat water lake for first timers or, if you've got a bit more experience, there'll be a fun slalom challenge on the flat water gates.

As well as world-class sport, there's plenty of family-friendly activities at the Lee Valley Centre. Keep your tiddlers entertained with a bouncy castle, bungee trampoline, climbing walls and more.

The Canoe Slalom World Championships is at Lee Valley White Water Centre from 16 to 20 September. Ticket prices vary, starting at around £11 for adults (£5 for kids). There are family tickets and weekend passes available too. Visit london.worldchampionships.events.slalom.canoeicf.com to find out more.
