London's Little Gardens: Elliott's Row

Gardens probably don't come much littler than this pocket park near Elephant and Castle. What used to be a bomb site and then a general dumping ground, guerrilla gardeners took the space over in 2012 and the council gave it the seal of approval in 2013.

So it's next to the major traffic highway of St George's Road (on the corner with Elliott's Row) and is unlikely to be that quiet oasis you're looking for to read a book for an hour, but it's got equipment for kids and is covered with that springy stuff that breaks falls. And if you do fancy taking the weight off your feet briefly, there are several benches to sit down.

There's a tea party on Sunday 13 September between 3pm-6pm — take a cake and you'll be welcomed with open arms.
