CHINGFORD BIG WEEKENDER:
Head to Ridgeway Park in Chingford for a weekend of live music featuring local and international artists (ABC, Boney M, Baby D, N-Trance and Gwen Dickey to name but a few). On Sunday, there's a family sports day including basketball, canoeing, cricket and more. Free, just turn up, Saturday 1pm-8pm, Sunday 1pm-6pm

EXHIBITION:
We were impressed with Paper Dandy's Horrogami back in 2012 and the artist is back with a new exhibition using single sheet kirigami paper models inspired by scenes from Star Wars. After a successful Kickstarter campaign you can see his paper skills at 5th Base Gallery just off Brick Lane. Free, just turn up, until 16 August

LONDON CRAFT BEER FESTIVAL:
Taste a great range of beers from quality brewers and learn about the history of the brew at Oval Space in Hackney. Pick up your festival beer drinking glass and let the boozy fun commence. £40, prebook, Saturday noon, Sunday 1pm

The annual meet up for die hard YouTubers, Summer in the City is held at ExCel London Docklands. There will be talks, panel discussions and performances as well as a chance to meet your idols and fellow Youtube enthusiasts. £27.50/£44 for the whole weekend, prebook, 11am

Have a go at Airboading in Hyde Park

SOURCE TO SEA RIVER RELAY:
Now in its third year the Source to Sea River Relay is bigger and more diverse than ever. The Bottle’s journey will begin at the source of the river in a field near Kemble in Gloucestershire where it will be filled with fresh Thames water. It will then be helped on its journey downstream towards London by rowers, walkers, swimmers, paddleboarders, kayakers, sailors, punters and many more. AIRBOARD IN HYDE PARK:
Why walk when you can AirBoard? Join experienced guides in Hyde Park to master the skill of this latest form of transport. Try out different speeds and terrains if you're feeling daring. £60, prebook, 11am

VJ DAY COMMEMORATIONS:
VJ Day commemorations are happening around the country today to mark the 70th anniversary of Victory over Japan Day. There will be a special Horse Guards Parade which will be screened to the public around Whitehall. Military bands will also line the route during the parade and the flypast will pass overhead. Free, just turn up, 11am

THAMES HEART OF LONDON:
Thames: Heart of London is a new exhibition of photographs by Henry Reichhold at London Blackfriars Thameslink station which aims to capture the character of the Thames as it winds through the city. Free, just turn up, until 30 September

CHOCOLATE WORKSHOP:
Brixton's own Chocolate Museum lets adults have a go at making chocolate truffles. Learn how to prepare, flavour and shape different fillings, as well as decorating techniques. £40, prebook, 11.30am

SUMMERTIME WALK:
Meet outside Maudsley Hospital before beginning a four-hour tour of Camberwell which encompasses environmental issues and sustainability through talks about foraging, saving the bees and more. The tour ends with a picnic in the park. This walk is open to all and is accessible to wheelchair users and people with disabilities. There's no pressure to do the whole three miles but be sure to wear comfortable shoes! Free, just turn up, 11.45am-4pm

SEVEN DIALS SPOTLIGHT FESTIVAL:
A free one day festival in Covent Garden compered by BBC Radio 1’s Alice Levine featuring an impressive lineup of music, performance and comedy. Free, just turn up, noon-7pm

If you love BBQs, live music, comedy and cocktails, then Kensington Roof Gardens has got your Saturday sorted. Hackney Record Fair at Epic Dalston has independent music labels, sellers of rare/obscure vinyl, music related ephemera, vintage hi-fi and local vinyl enthusiasts selling directly to the public. Free, just turn up, 11am-6pm

FABRICATIONS WORKSHOP:
Want to hone those sewing skills or fancy repairing your own clothes instead of forking out a load of money on new ones. Fabrications in Hackney is running an Introductory course on how to use a sewing machine. Stay for the Creative Making afternoon session to put those skills you've learnt in the morning into practice. CARNIVAL COMMUNITY DAY:
