Ever wanted to meet a real life astronaut? Helen Sharman, Britain's first astronaut, will be answering questions at an Imperial College event this Thursday.
Sharman, who became the first Brit to go into space when she visited the Mir space station in 1991, will be present at the screening of a new short film about what it's like to travel into space.
The film screening takes place as part of a larger event celebrating British astronaut Tim Peake's own imminent launch into space. While you're there, go into space yourself in the form of an inflatable planetarium, or try on a real life spacesuit worn by Russian cosmonauts.
Want to get down to the nitty gritty geekery of space travel? Recreate meteorite crashes, have a go at building your own pocket-sized spacecraft, or explore what the rocks of Mars tells us about life on the red planet — all guided by experts from Imperial College.
If the skies are clear, there might even be a chance to take part in some stargazing.
Imperial Fringe: It Is Rocket Science takes place this Thursday (3 December), 5pm-7.30pm. Tickets are free but need to be booked in advance.
