The spooky Vaults underneath Waterloo train station will get a whole lot spookier from April with the arrival of Goosebumps ALIVE. The mega-selling kids books by R.L. Stine (400 million sold worldwide since you ask) will be brought to life as an immersive theatrical experience that will include ghosts and monsters, flocks of birds and the experience of  being buried alive as it blurs the boundaries between humour and horror.

Here we exclusively reveal concept designs by Samuel Wyer (see above) who has form at the Vaults having done Alice's Adventures Underground there last year. The new show is for adults first and kids second (they have to wait until May). It's been directed by Tom Salamon, who previously concocted the conspiracy thriller adventure show Accomplice. Expect puppets and animatronics, with costumes by seasoned Secret Cinema designer Susan Kulkarni and masks courtesy of the Ministry of Masks. The music also looks to be a treat with both  a recorded score and intermittent live performances by cabaret favourites The Tiger Lillies (their iconic Shockheaded Peter is surely due for a return soon).

The show will involve a promenade through the tunnels with creatures at every turn as scenes from books like Say Cheese And Die! and Stay Out Of The Basement are recreated. There will even be monsters in the toilets.

Goosebumps ALIVE (90 minutes) runs from 6 April-4 September, tickets £32.50 (0r £25 for previews). Goosebumps KIDS (50 minutes) runs from 14 May-4 September, tickets £15 (but one adult to accompany no more than two children). You can buy preview and normal tickets now by clicking here.
