Join In A Londonwide Book Club With Cityread

Cityread is a book club with a difference.

It takes place all across London for one month a year, in April. And it's not just sitting around at someone's house with a bottle of Malbec and some crisps. This is a month full of events ranging from an immersive installation to author talks.

The book is the brand new Ten Days by Gillian Slovo. Inspired by August 2011's riots, it's a political thriller set over 10 days of unrest in the capital, with the action taking in the streets of a housing estate, and the machinations at the top of government.

If you go to Foyles on Charing Cross Road between 31 March and 7 May you'll be able to explore a 'police control centre' in The Gallery. Hear excerpts from the audiobook by interacting with the room, and leave your own thoughts.

Gillian Slovo is visiting several boroughs to talk about the book (Redbridge, Bromley, Lewisham, Havering, Richmond, and Kensington and Chelsea). You can also catch historian Nick Dobson talking about 900 years of turmoil in London, and other authors around town.

All events are free, so pick up a copy of the book and get reading.
