North London Literary Festival Returns With Sci-Fi Slant

Middlesex University's North London Literary Festival takes on a sci-fi theme this year.

The one-day, free event consists of fiction and creative writing workshops, theatrical performances, and talks on the publishing industry and science fiction in film and on television.

David Cottis, Artistic Director of theatre company Instant Classics, begins the day with a fiction workshop, offering participants guidance in the art of creating imaginary worlds.

Literary agent Carrie Plitt will be offering advice to budding writers. Plitt has a specific interest in finding new writers with 'less-represented' voices, including writers from ethnic minorities and people with disabilities.

The day's first headline speaker is Pat Cadigan, award-winning author of short science fiction stories, and later in the day Christopher Priest, writer of 2006 film The Prestige, will speak.

Other highlights of the day include a panel discussion on diversity in science fiction, and a performance of Been On The Job Too Long, a play about past, present and future recurring.

North London Literary Festival takes place at Middlesex University in Hendon on 22 March. All events are free but need booking.
