On 5 May, London goes to the polls to elect a new Mayor of London and members of the London Assembly.

Or, rather, those of us who are eligible and registered to vote go to the polls. Check whether you can vote and register online by 18 April (you can fill in the form if you're not sure if you're registered or not).

You can vote in the London elections if you:

  • will be 18 on polling day
  • live in London
  • are a British citizen, EU citizen or Commonwealth citizen who has or doesn't need leave to remain in the UK.

If you can't or don't want to vote in person at your local polling station, make sure you're registered for a postal vote by 19 April or a proxy vote (where someone else votes on your behalf) by 26 April.

Find out more about the London elections on the London Elects website.
