Get the red carpet treatment in Zagreb.

How about this as an alternative to renting? You can stay in four-star hotels in European capitals for less money than the average rent in London.

Average rent in the capital is £1,676 a month, which is £55 a night. Labour mayoral candidate Sadiq Khan's team had a play on Expedia and came up with many options for less than that.

You might not have access to kitchen facilities but many hotels have washing machines, and you don't have to pay council tax or utilities bills. Plus, someone comes in and makes your bed for you every day. And this is before we even get on to the fact that you won't have to deal with damp, vermin, broken locks and windows, letting agents, landlords...

Here's what you could have won:

This Berlin hotel is in the fancypants district of Charlottenburg.
We could handle this view, at the Relais Castrum Boccea just outside Rome.
This Parisian Best Western is just down the hill from the Sacré-Cœur.
