How Real Is Frank Underwood? House Of Cards Creator Talks About Politics

So how close to reality is ruthless politician Frank Underwood (or, if your memory stretches back that far, Francis Urquhart)? Before House of Cards was on TV it was a book, written by Michael Dobbs. He's one of the speakers at a series of free talks about politics at the British Academy this June.

With Great Power (which, if you know your Spider-Man, you'll know is followed by "...comes great responsibility") is 10 events at the British Academy's gorgeous building at Carlton House Terrace.

Watch a screening of Steven Spielberg's Lincoln, introduced by historian Melvyn Stokes; go on a walk and hear a panel discussion about Mary Wollstonecraft; discuss the impact of social media on politics; discover the art of political cartooning; and of course, hear Michael Dobbs talk about the blurred line between fact and fiction when it comes to politicians.

The British Academy's With Great Power series runs 1-30 June at 10-11 Carlton House Terrace, SW1Y 5AH. All talks are free but we recommend booking in advance.
