Regent Street To Close For Huge Transport Festival
In 2014 Regent Street closed for a celebration of buses — this year, it'll be all London transport icons.

London's most famous transport icons will take over Regent Street for a spectacular free festival this summer.

Black cabs, tube carriages and buses will be among attractions on display for the 3 July event, which will be split into three zones: Past, Present and Future.

The Past zone will feature a 1927 tube carriage, horse-drawn buses and heritage posters.

There'll be chance to see behind the scenes of contactless payment, explore the designs of stations, taxis and buses, plus cycle spin fun from Santander Cycles in the Present zone.

Meanwhile, the Future zone gives people chance to see how digital developments will transform how we travel in the future, virtual reality headsets and free talks on future technology.

Also on offer will be family activities and games, and festival food and drink.

In 2014, a celebration of London's buses saw Regent Street close for a day while 50 buses from over 100 years went on display.

Transported by Design festival is organised by Transport for London and the London Transport Museum and is part of of an 18-month celebration called Transported by Design, which includes events, competitions and exhibitions across London.
