Westminster Abbey Now On Google Street View

To the many kings, queens, nobles and notables buried within, it would seem like witchcraft. But you can now wander around the inside of Westminster Abbey from the comfort of your own sofa.

The cathedral's interior has been added to Google Street View, allowing you to skip the queues, dodge the £20 entrance fee, avoid the crowds and explore at your leisure*.

This is great news for those overseas who can't easily visit, and for teachers and schoolchildren, who can now take an educational tour around this historic building without leaving the classroom.

It's also good news for Londoners. Despite containing many notable tombs, monuments and architectural features, the church is all-too-often dismissed as a tourist attraction — not a place where proper Londoners would ever go. Well, now it's easy to take a look around and see what you're missing.

The virtual tour is available in high resolution via the usual Google maps controls, and also on Westminster Abbey's website. You can give it a spin here:

*You can, of course, also do this by attending one of the many services held in the abbey.
