The night tube launches this Friday, and that can only mean one thing — staying out late. Look at our top events for the evening (some happen on the Saturday too).
Creative party
East London bookshop/community space Libreria is holding a free night of creative events from 8pm-8am, celebrating the launch of the night tube. There's music from Andy Button and his band, author talks from the likes of Aarathi Prasad (on at 2am), whisky tastings, an insomniacs' philosophy club AND a screening of Martin Scorsese classic, After Hours. If you can make it through the whole night, celebrate with bagels and poetry at 6am — the time the regular tube starts again. Hang on a second... Closest night tube: Liverpool Street, Central line.
Late late jazz
Jazz club Ronnie Scott's is well-known for its Late Late Show, but this week there'll be no need to splash out on an Uber or hang around for a night bus. Opening at 1am, this Friday's music comes from acclaimed pianist Chris Eldred. Pianist Sam James then tinkles the ivories for Saturday's Late Late Show. Entry is £6-£12. Pharell at Proud
Boom is holding a Pharell-themed night at Proud Camden, for just a fiver. Don your best hip hop t-shirt and dance your heart out, to win prizes. Head to the Camden club from 10.30pm (first 25 people in get a cupcake) for 40 years of hip hop and r'n'b tunes, with a special set devoted to Pharrell's biggest chart toppers. Closest night tube: Euston, Victoria line. Catch the N168 bus there.
Roof garden BBQ
Join over 300 young professionals for a BBQ on Kensington Roof Gardens before you dance the night away. Disco, funk, house and soul tracks are all on the playlist. There are real flamingos in the three gardens, set over one-and-a-half acres of land, 100 feet above Kensington High Street. Dress to impress. Tickets are £20. Closest night tube: Notting Hill Gate, Central line.
Boogie in Brixton
De-stress at the monthly bashment dancehall party at Dogstar, Brixton. Expect reggae, afrobeat, soca, hip hop and r'n'b tunes, and practice your moves in time for Notting Hill Carnival next week. Tickets are only £5 and you can boogie from 10pm until 3.30am. Closest night tube: Brixton, Victoria line.
Summer shindig
There's a summer shindig at Hornsey Town Hall on Friday AND Saturday, featuring Kill Your Darlings and James Whelligan. Music starts from 7pm, there's a roller disco, croquet and beer. For £10, you can party until 2am at this boozy music-fuelled take on a village party. Since the night tube hasn't started on the northern line, we suggest you take the N41 to Seven Sisters where you can catch the Victoria line.
