Take The BikeTube To Work On Wednesday
Cycle to work on Wednesday.

If you find yourself wanting to swap the tube for your bicycle, but don't have the confidence to head into the traffic, try hopping on one of Wednesday's BikeTubes.

The series of guided rides is aimed at helping people commute by bike for the first time — and are being organised by the London Cycling Campaign for Cycle To Work Day.

Ten rides will set off from different corners of London on Wednesday morning (14 September) heading into central points in the city.

Each ride will be coordinated by experienced ride leaders, with mechanics from Halfords on hand to make sure all bikes are fit for purpose. They will be supported by volunteer marshals to help build the confidence of first-time cycle commuters.

Up to 75 cyclists can take part in each ride, meaning 750 people will be able to join rides near to where they live and jump off at the points nearest their workplaces.

To take part, riders will need to register for their chosen departure point online before Sunday. Cyclists will need to bring their own bikes, which should be in full working order, although Halfords mechanics will be on hand to carry out safety checks before departure.

Here are the routes:

Ride A – Shepherd’s Bush – Hyde Park Corner – Oxford Circus

Ride B – Ladbroke Grove – Hyde Park Corner – Trafalgar Square

Ride C – Swiss Cottage – Regent's Park – Holborn

Ride D – Finsbury Park – King's Cross – Russell Square

Ride E – London Fields – Old Street – Farringdon

Ride F – Poplar – Blackfriars – Parliament

Ride G – Greenwich – Canary Wharf – Tower Hill

Ride H – Deptford – South Bermondsey – Waterloo

Ride I – Nunhead – Peckham – Blackfriars

Ride J – Clapham Common – Parliament – Blackfriars
