London's Most Indulgent Breakfasts

It's easy to fall into a dull breakfast routine when you're in a rush to leave the house and get to work every day. Once in a while, then, it's fun to go out and have someone else cook you something special. Here's where to find the most indulgent breakfasts in London.

The Full Elvis at Duck and Waffle. Uh huh.

Turkish eggs at The Providores

This is a really simple dish that feels luxurious. It's basically poached eggs sitting on top of thick Greek yoghurt, topped with a pool of golden brown butter. Gentle Turkish chilli flakes give a subtle heat while chopped parsley brings grassy freshness. Dipping toast into this is a most excellent way to start a Saturday and it's easy to see why this dish has stayed on the menu ever since they launched, 15 years ago.

The full English at Hawksmoor

Hawksmoor seems to crop up on a lot of these 'most indulgent' lists but they just do excess so well. The full English at Hawksmoor Guildhall is the kind that will either set you up for the whole day or send you back to bed. For two sharing, you can stare down a combo of smoked bacon chop, sausages made with pork, beef and mutton, black pudding, short-rib bubble and squeak, grilled bone marrow, trotter baked beans, fried eggs, grilled mushrooms, roast tomatoes, HP gravy and unlimited toast. Oof. There are breakfast cocktails ('anti-fogmatics') to go alongside; we’re rather partial to the Bloody Mary No. 7 with its horseradish infused gin.

Full Elvis at Duck and Waffle

There are a few sweet waffle options at London's most famous 24-hour restaurant but our favourite is the Full Elvis - a pile of fluffy waffles, topped with peanut butter and jam, banana brûlée (caramelised bananas), vanilla ice cream, and peanut crunch. Definitely one for those who like their breakfast on the sweet side.

Caviar omelette at The Wolseley

Forget ham, cheese or even smoked salmon inside your omelette. At The Wolseley, you can order yours filled with 30g of caviar. This combination is dreamy; we can imagine the salty pops of caviar inside the soft folds of buttery egg. In fact, this has to be one of the most desirable breakfasts in London, especially served in that glorious, art deco dining room. Oh, did we mention it costs over £75?

Lobster benedict at Aqua Shard

Aqua Shard has made a name for itself via its weekend brunch menu, which contains everything from breakfast dishes right through to light roasts. We like to keep it classic, however, with a lobster benedict. Colchester blue lobster meat is piled on top of a toasted muffin, topped with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce. Yum.

Lobster and crab omelette at Chiltern Firehouse

While it doesn’t perhaps reach the heady heights of the caviar omelette at The Wolseley, this fishy number from Chiltern Firehouse certainly ticks the right boxes in terms of ingredients. For 26 of your best English pounds you may purchase an omelette filled with lobster and crab, served with potatoes, chervil and coral mayo (we assume they mean the coral from scallops, presumably the rest of them used in another dish). Even the boiled egg with soldiers gets the Chiltern treatment, served with Ogleshield cheese and truffle soldiers.
