Escaping from the big city. Most of us have imagined it: trading the bright lights for peaceful nights, morning commutes for sunrise wanders, and chaos for calm. But is it really that easy?

Jen and Andy hope so. They have been gifted a new start: a cottage in Northamptonshire, but while the plan is to burn off the decade they squandered in the city, it turns out it’s not so easy to escape their shared demons.

Smallholding by Chris Dunkley, on stage at the excellent Soho Theatre from 18 February, is a love story about trying to make a relationship work when all the odds are stacked against you. Following its premiere in 2013, HighTide Festival Theatre and Nuffield transfer their production to Soho Theatre, featuring Chris New (Weekend), Matti Houghton (RSC) and directed by Patrick Sandford (former Artistic Director of Nuffield).

Smallholding. Big problem.
