The Prince

The Prince

The beer drinkers on picnic blankets by the war memorial outside. The chummy staff and chatty locals. The nearby corpse of a fox in a thicket: The Prince has undeniable echoes of a sleepy, leafy country pub.

But this Wood Green watering hole comes flecked with the urbane too: a drinks list that includes its own-brewed weiss beer. Wine tasting evenings, where punters makes sarcastic notes. Art that belongs on a Radiohead album cover.

And then there's the Chinese-style Sunday roast — an ingenious twist on the English classic, which we've already raved about.

For us, The Prince is a wonderful place to begin or end a weekend ramble around Alexandra Palace, Muswell Hill and the surrounds.

The risk, of course, is that if you start here, you may end up staying till chucking out time.
