Mapped: Every Location Mentioned In Vanity Fair

To coincide with ITV's lavish new adaptation of Vanity Fair, we've mapped every location mentioned in the original novel by William Makepeace Thackeray.

The TV version features Olivia Cooke as Becky Sharp, alongside such household names as Martin Clunes (Sir Pitt Crawley), Frances de la Tour (Matilda Crawley) and Michael Palin is Thackeray himself.

Alternatively, you can read the book and picture anybody you like in each of the roles. We'd very much recommend it — pacier, racier and in-your-facier than a Dickens novel, Vanity Fair has stood the test of time as one of the greatest novels of the English language.

The story is largely set in London during the Napoleonic wars. It namechecks about 150 locations throughout the city.

But the novel is also international in scope — much more so than any Dickens novel. Many chapters take place in or around the battlefields of Europe, including Waterloo. Around 30 countries are visited or referenced, from Brazil to Fiji.

We have no idea if anyone will find this map interesting or useful — it's just something we rather enjoy putting together.
