Ally Pally Is Throwing Free Foodie Festivals This Summer, And Frank Turner Is Headlining The First One With A DJ Set This Bank Holiday

Street food and booze? Ally Pally sure knows the way to a Londoner's heart.

Free foodie festival StrEATlife is back again this May bank holiday for the first weekend of its summer run, and it's serving up a whole buffet of tasty eats — not to mention a free DJ set from Frank Turner. The celebration sees the palace's grounds awash with delicious street food traders, refreshing beverages and great live music, backed by spectacular views over London.

It certainly tops our list of the best summer chill out spots in the capital.

Taking place monthly until August, there's enough scrumptious stuff here to fill you up multiple times over. From Pink Cactus' freshly made tortillas and tacos to Leo Bao's traditional steamed buns, you might want to leave a little room for dessert... The Ice Cream Cab will be serving ice cream from the back of a traditional London cab, and Los Churros Amigos' fresh churros are some of the best in town.

There's lots for veggies and vegans too, including Antonino's authentic Neapolitan pizza and Wholefood Heaven's Buddha bowls. These delicious noodle boxes won Best Main Dish at the British Street Food Awards, and are sure to delight veggies and meat-eaters alike.

We all know that street food pairs just nicely with a craft beer. The festival's bars hold over 20 craft and cask brews, with refreshing beverages from the likes of Pin Up Brighton, Rouge USA and Dinkelacker. Not your kind of thing? Grab a cocktail or a jug of Pimm's instead — perfect for sipping and sharing while taking in Ally Pally's spectacular skyline views.

Finally, Saturday evening at the festival sees Frank Turner take to the stage for an epic DJ set. It's not often you get to see this national treasure on the decks, and he's sure to get the party started. Revellers can expect to hear everything from classic party tunes right through to indie rock anthems, making this the ultimate summer celebration.

Ready to party? Catch StrEATlife at Alexandra Palace from 26-27 May 2018. Entry is completely free, but you are advised to bring cash. Can't make it this time? The festival returns monthly this summer, on 23-24 June, 28-29 July and 18 August. Check out the full line-up here.
