See A Spitfire And Typhoon In Guildhall Yard, Right Now

Someone's parked a Hurricane in the Square Mile. In fact, you can see half a squadron of military aircraft, right now, at the Guildhall.

The free display is part of ongoing celebrations to mark the RAF's centenary.

Alongside the Hurricane, you can see such famous aircraft as the Spitfire, Sopwith Camel and Eurofighter Typhoon, which looks particularly strange beside the ancient architecture of Guildhall and St Lawrence church.

Visitors can also inspect aircraft engines and chat to the personnel who fly and maintain these impressive machines.

(Note: Security's a bit hard-ass, as you might expect. During an intimate bag search — which revealed pockets we didn't know we had — we were also asked to open a packet of tissues and take the lid off a highlighter pen. Perhaps it's some militaristic version of performance art.)

Open Friday 11am-3.30pm, Saturday 10am-3pm and Sunday 10am-1pm. Entrance is free.
