The Houses Of Parliament Are Open To Visitors This Summer

This is a sponsored article on behalf of Parliament UK.

This summer, make your way to the Houses of Parliament for a day out with a difference. Take a guided or audio tour around this iconic building, which is packed with history, yet still functions as the seat of the UK Parliament.

Go on one of Parliament's enlightening tours — there's even a tour created especially for the children — and you'll be amazed by the architecture, stunned by the stories and in awe of the artwork.

The tour takes the route of the Queen's procession at the State Opening of Parliament. You'll pass through the richly decorated Robing Room before finding yourself in the imposing setting of the Royal Gallery.

Witness the magnificent throne in the Lord's Chamber en-route to the spectacular Central Lobby with its enormous chandelier, which marks the midpoint between the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

Step into the Commons Chamber where the Speaker's chair and green benches will look familiar if you've been watching recent debates and election coverage. Do try and refrain from shouting 'order', 'order' at this bit, though.

The tour finishes in the medieval splendour of Westminster Hall, where you can view the exhibition on Parliament and the First World War until 28 September. The display explores the decisions made by Parliament between 1914 and 1918 and includes the personal stories of men and women connected to Westminster.

What better way to end a visit to this unique and symbolic building than the addition of a stylish afternoon tea served in a Thames-side room with views overlooking Lambeth Palace and the London Eye.

If you haven’t had a chance to look around the Houses of Parliament, there's no time like the present — pre-book your tickets here for an unforgettable insight into one of the country's most important institutions.
