Some bits of London don't have enough benches for those who need them; other areas are replete with seat. Sometimes London has bad benches, or sad benches. And then there's this bunch.

London contains dozens and dozens of variations on the humble bench. Some are loud and shouty; some serve as memorials to groups or individuals; some aren't really benches at all.

We've compiled 64 of the most noteworthy around town, including a handful of the many notable bench plaques. There are many more out there, so do leave a comment below if you think we've missed a good one.

Note: We've left out temporary benches installed as part of fleeting art projects, like these ones from a previous London Festival of Architecture.
