Life-Sized Elephant Hologram Spotted Stomping Around London

Have you HERD?

The life-sized hologram of an elephant — normally found roaming the plains of Africa — appeared in front of St Paul's Cathedral on Monday morning. And it's set to pop up around London over the next few days.

The hologram — almost five metres in length — is part of a WWF's Stop Wildlife Trafficking campaign — which aims to surpass 100,000 signatures calling on the British government to end illegal wildlife trafficking.

Tanya Steele, CEO at WWF-UK said:

Every day, around 55 elephants are slaughtered for their ivory. We brought this incredible elephant hologram to London to remind people of the beauty and majesty of these animals and highlight the urgency of the need to protect them.

The elephant can be seen around St Paul's and the House of Parliament throughout Monday 8 October, before moving onto Abbey Road on the evening of Tuesday 9 October, then the Truman Brewery in Shoreditch on Wednesday 10 October.

The hologram reminds us of the spectacular Sultan's Elephant, which roamed majestically around London back in 2006.

WWF is also turning pedestrian crossings in Shoreditch and Battersea into the patterns of endangered animal prints.
