The breadth of London's Black cultural and creative talent will be showcased at Black on the Square — a new event launched by the Mayor of London.

The free one-day festival — taking place Saturday 2 September 2023 in Trafalgar Square — features a host of happenings, including:

  • Main Stage appearances from rapper ENNY of 'Peng Black Girls' fame, MOBO Unsung, alt rappers BXKS, and surprise special guests.
  • DJ sets from Touching Bass and Queer Bruk.
  • Freestyle rap and audience engagement from rap outfit The Spit Game UK.
  • A photography installation from Jennie Baptiste.
  • A range of African and Caribbean food.
  • Stalls from Black-owned businesses.

Says the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan: "London's Black communities are a vital part of the rich fabric of our city, and I am proud that this brand new, free event will showcase and champion the sheer breadth of the capital's Black creative talent."

The event will become an annual fixture, which joins others held in Trafalgar Square, including Diwali, Eid, St Patrick's Day, Lunar New Year, Vaisakhi and St George's Day.

Black on the Square, Trafalgar Square, 2 September, 12pm-6pm, free — no need to book.
