Think you know your way around London on foot? Prove it this weekend with TfL's walking challenge.
Know London Walking is a one day challenge, where Londoners are invited to show how well they know their way around the city on foot. From the starting point on South Bank, you'll have to visit as many specific points as you can in three hours, using your knowledge of London's streets to get between stops as quickly as possible.
The event celebrates 10 years of the Legible London signs — that's those maps that are dotted around the city on freestanding boards. No, we didn't know they were called that either, but they have helped us on our way a few times in the last decade.
The challenge has been put together by TfL and experts from British Orienteering. All participants will be sent a certificate following the event, with the three people who cover the most ground each winning a pair of tickets to see the musical The Wind in the Willows at the London Palladium. Walking shoes at the ready.
Ben Plowden, Director of Surface Strategy and Planning at TfL, says:
For 10 years our Legible London signs have been making it easier for Londoners and visitors to the capital to find their way while walking. This event is a great way to show everyone who lives, works or visits the city how walkable it is, and encourage active travel.
