Things to do

DIANA'S DRESSES: Time's running out to see this beautiful display of dresses and other outfits worn by Princess Diana in her public appearances. Included are the ink blue velvet gown, which she wore at the White House to dance with John Travolta, and several items which have never been on display before. Kensington Palace, included in admission (£12.70-£19.50), book ahead, until 17 February

MOTHERHOOD: For one week only, work by two artists on the theme of motherhood goes on display — and it's all for sale too. Artist Amy Shuckburgh shows the intricate details of motherhood in oils and pastels, while Arabella Brooke's bronze sculptures are more figurative in nature. Olympia Auctions (Kensington), free entry, just turn up, 11-17 February

ANGLO SAXONS: It's the final full week of British Library's sensational Anglo Saxon Kingdoms exhibition. Beautiful decorative objects, well-preserved books and other items from Anglo-Saxon times tell the story of the settlers in England — including how unwelcome they were.  British Library, £16, book ahead, until 19 February

INTERNATIONAL FASHION:  The fashion pack will soon be in town for London Fashion Week but you don't need a front row seat to see work by designers from around the globe. International Fashion Showcase displays the work of 16 talented new designers from countries including Vietnam, Italy and Bangladesh. Each design represents the artist's country in some way. Somerset House, free, just turn up, 11-24 February

UNCLAIMED: Few of us ever face the very important question — what will getting old be like for me? This new exhibition brings to life stories of old age through objects including talking shoes and books that read to you. One in three UK people alive today will reach 100, so it's an important topic. Barbican, free, just turn up, 11 February-3 May

BOARD GAMES: Have a budget-friendly evening of fun learning to play board games you've probably never heard of, hosted by screenwriter and board games evangelist Charlie Fish. Ritzy (Brixton), free, just turn up, 6.30pm

BOMBAY TALKIES: Inspired by the original Bombay Talkies, a film studio which revolutionised cinema in Mumbai in the 1930s, a subterranean bar is transformed into a pop-up cinema. Tuck into canapés and a three-course meal while watching Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel. Bombay Bustle (Mayfair), £52, book ahead, 6.30pm

RISING SEA LEVEL: We all know sea levels are rising, but how bad is the situation? Oceanographer John Englander talks about how altered coastlines will affect the global economy, and warns that we can expect an increase in short-term flood events too. Royal Institution (Mayfair), £16/£10/£7, book ahead, 7pm-8.30pm

FLATSHARE SLAMDOWN: This panel gameshow sees tenants Ben and Tom go head to head to avoid doing chores in their flatshare, aided by their houseguests (yet to be announced, but previous participants have included comedians Sara Pascoe and Bridget Christie). Expect anarchy and hilarity, all overseen by landlord Matthew. Pleasance Theatre (Islington), £8, book ahead, 7.30pm

NEW MUSIC: Enjoy new performances from up and coming singer-songwriters, bands, poets and performance artists from around the UK and Europe. Half Moon (Putney), £2.50, book ahead, 8pm
