PACKED LUNCH: You'll leave this daytime science session with plenty of office chat. Today it's all about how maths can help us understand the recent Ebola and Zika outbreaks. Bring your sarnies. Wellcome Collection, free, just turn up, 1pm

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS: Oooh and aaah Borough Market's pretty Christmas lights and new installation, before picking up festive treats from the market, which is open seven days a week from today until Christmas. Borough Market, free, just turn up, 6.30pm-7.30pm

WINTER ROOFTOP CINEMA: Catch Home Alone tonight as part of Dalston Roof Park's pop-up rooftop cinema. Don't panic, there will be heaters, blankets and hot water bottles to keep the chills away, plus two for one drinks deals –in case you need the extra beer blanket. Dalston Roof Park, £5, book ahead, 6pm-8pm

John Keats' own copy of Paradise Lost is the highlight of this new display at the Keats House.

WEST END UP CLOSE: A chance to see the cast of some of London's most popular musicals take things down a notch in these intimate acoustic gigs. All proceeds go to The House of St Barnabas, so you can enjoy that second mulled wine with a clean conscience. The Chapel of St Barnabas, £30+bf, book ahead, 7pm-9pm

POP UP TO GROWN UP: Pop-ups are, well, popping up in squares, markets parks, festivals and rooftops everywhere. But are they a good use of space, who do they serve and what is left behind when they pop off? An esteemed group of curators, directors, architects and artists discuss. Forest Works (Walthamstow), £5.72, book ahead, 7.30pm-11pm

TIM KEY MEGADATE: We've long been a fan of Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Tim Key and we're sure this brand new set of tales and poems about dating hopes and disappointments will make for an entertaining evening. Arts Theatre (Leicester Square), £19, book ahead, 8pm, 6-10 December

SKATE LATES: We're not sure if skating to club beats and North African inspired tracks will make you a smoother glider but there's only one way to find out. Somerset House, £17+bf, book ahead, 8pm-11.30pm

GINGERBREAD CITY: Architects and urban planners have swapped bricks and mortar for something a little more, well, edible. See this fictional city made entirely of gingerbread and have a go at building your own gingerbread house if you can resist having a nibble. 27 Thurloe Street, £3 exhibition/£30 gingerbread-making, book ahead, until 22 December

Good cause of the day: Crap Film Club supports Crisis

Prepare for a lot of laughs during the screening of this 1982 Turkish sci-fi film aka the Turkish Star Wars. Upon its initial release, it was slated for its incoherent story line, poor performances, and use of stock footage and music from other films. So naturally, it has a cult following and makes for a perfect choice for the Crap Film Club. All proceeds go to the charity Crisis. The Book Club (Shoreditch), £5, book ahead, 7pm-10pm, 11 December
