TfL and Adidas have teamed up on three new trainer designs, all based on different parts of London's transport network.

First up: a new colourway of a Temper Run, inspired by the Oyster card to celebrate its 15th birthday. It comes with a roundel on the left tongue. On said roundel: 'Mind The Gap', of course.

It comes with a special Oyster card, for free, topped up with £80 credit — the same amount as each pair of shoes costs.

Londoners aren't quite as lucky as Berliners in this regard. In January this year, Adidas teamed up with BVG, Berlin's transit company. Each pair of shoes doubled up as an annual travel pass. The shoes cost €180, but the cheapest annual travelcard costs €728, so shoe shoppers bagged themselves a bit of a bargain.

Another shoe in the collection is ZX 500 RM, inspired by vintage advertising posters, found in abandoned tube stations. On this trainer, the roundel on the tongue reads 'Hidden London'.

Then there's the Continental 80, an homage to the world's first ever underground line, now known as the Metropolitan line. Back then, it ran from Paddington to Farringdon, so that's the route displayed on the side of the shoe.

The shoes launch this Saturday, 27 October, at Adidas Originals shops in London — there's one on Hanbury Street and another on Fouberts Place. From the Instagram post above we suspect some independent boutiques like Sneakersnstuff might have a few pairs too.

TfL has collaborated on trainers before, although previously Nike was the partner of choice. They made shoes celebrating the Johnston100 typeface in 2016, and another pair inspired by the old District line moquette in 2013.
